Such A Beautiful Time of the Year…

Maybe it’s a little early for a Christmas post…but oh well :). Who agrees that the Christmas season is one of the most beautiful times of the year? The trees are bare and here in the south we don’t get much snow, but I still say that this is one of the most beautiful times of the year. Why? I would say because it is such a joyful time of year! Happiness and love is in the air and the Christmas songs have a way of cheering you up :).

Christmas is also a time of giving..and receiving. And the biggest reason that makes Christmas so beautiful is the gift that God gave us. Many, many years ago God gave us a beautiful and selfless gift. God sent us His only Son, Jesus. And what makes His gift even more special is the reason God sent us Jesus…to die for us. To take our punishment and wash our sins away so that we might be as white as snow. It’s better than any gift we could give..and what gift could be better?

“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord:
though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool.”
Isaiah 1:18

Here’s a couple Christmas songs :)

Glory in the Highest

You are the first
You go before
You are the last
Lord, You're the encore
Your name's in lights for all to see
The starry host declare Your glory

Glory in the highest
Glory in the highest
Glory in the highest

Apart from You there is no god
Light of the world
The Bright and Morning Star
Your name will shine for all to see
You are the One
You are my glory

Grace, Love, and Mercy

Thanksgiving is only a few days away (wow! time flies!) so today I’m going to go ahead and tell you a few things I am thankful for :)
I am thankful for grace.
“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people”  Titus 2:11
I am thankful for love.
“For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations.” Psalm 100:5
I am thankful for mercy.
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us.” Ephesians 2:4

“The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.” Psalm 145:8
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God” Ephesians 2:8

Have you been saved by the grace of God?

The Beauty of Fall

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the Everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.”
Isaiah 40:28

And what a beautiful creation He has made!

Taking it Seriously

Lately I’ve been reading on the life of David. Last night I was reading when he heard of the death of King Saul. 2 Samuel 1:12 says that when David heard the news he “mourned and wept and fasted until evening…” David mourned for Saul. David wept for Saul. Saul, the one who tried and tried to kill him. Saul, David’s enemy. It looks like David took seriously loving his enemies. And, although I don’t have any enemies hunting me down, I wonder if I’m loving like I should. Loving the hurting, loving the lost, loving the broken and poor. I tend to neglect them in my prayer life. I don’t think to pray for them as often as I should. So I think it’s about time I start. When was the last time you prayed for hurting, lost, broken, and poor?
